Trying to determine drawer bottom thickness for some new hardware cabinets in my shop. Searching the forums I came across numerous references to the Sagulator for calculating shelf thickness. Problem is the link will not load.

You could cut a few different pieces to glue to the front and see how much of an effect that has to reduce the depth of the solid wood piece on the front. good luck. The only thing I can correct, based off your drawing, is that you would actually want to divide your span in half. The sagulator only calculates the sag of the free-floating portion of a beam, and since the middle is supported you would treat each side as independent shelves. sondao • 4 yr. ago. Sagulator puts this at only 1.247 mm per 305 mm of sag, even without the steel beam, so I think it could work, but might be overkill if there's an easier way.
